As the Hitachi Group expands its social innovation business worldwide and responds to new business challenges such as reducing environmental impact, strengthening global manufacturing capabilities (design and development technology, manufacturing technology, supply chain management, etc.) is becoming increasingly important. The Monozukuri Strategy Division is a professional global engineering group that, as a corporate division, is responsible for formulating and developing cross-Hitachi Group manufacturing strategies.
・Formulating manufacturing strategies for the Hitachi Group
・Supporting manufacturing reform in business divisions
・Promoting manufacturing human resource development measures
The strength of the Hitachi Group lies in its wide range of products, including IT and OT. In collaboration with internal research institutes and IT departments, we are working on DX manufacturing by making full use of the world's most advanced digital technologies, such as IoT and AI.
We aim to improve productivity and quality and reduce environmental impact from the design stage through advanced simulation, using digital information throughout the product lifecycle from sales to maintenance.
To address global demand fluctuations and risks, we aim to enhance efficiency by utilizing digital data End to End (E2E), covering the entire value chain from parts and materials procurement, manufacturing, and inspection to sales and maintenance services.
We will digitize the 4M data related to manufacturing: people (human), equipment (machine), materials (material), and methods (method). In addition, by visualizing and analyzing this data, we will efficiently carry out improvement activities at the manufacturing site, with the aim of dramatically increasing productivity and stabilizing and improving manufacturing quality.
The realization of a decarbonized society and a highly recycling society is a social issue that is being addressed worldwide. The Hitachi Group has also positioned this as an important issue and is working on it, and the following initiatives are being carried out in the manufacturing field.
In order to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, it is necessary to reduce CO2 emissions from products and services, as well as from factories and offices. To this end, we are working to visualize CO2 emissions and energy consumption through digital technology, and are also promoting CO2 reduction measures such as switching to alternative energy sources.
The 3Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle) are essential to achieving a circular economy. To this end, we are working to apply eco-design to create environmentally friendly products and to recycle plastic waste.
In order to advance manufacturing, it is essential to utilize the manufacturing base technologies and know-how that Hitachi has cultivated to date, including welding, casting, and processing.
To pass on and develop the excellent technologies and know-how of skilled engineers to the next generation, it is important to integrate digital technology and develop human resources that will lead the way into the future.
In collaboration with two in-house research institutes, we are working to advance and improve our core technology by digitizing it using advanced technologies such as AI (artificial intelligence). In recent years, we have also been focusing on the environment and developing technologies to reduce environmental impact.
Training the personnel who will be responsible for manufacturing in the future is also an important issue, and we are promoting the training of young and mid-career engineers through an internal rotation system that allows them to acquire a variety of manufacturing technologies within the Hitachi Group, as well as the training of senior engineers who will lead manufacturing reforms through the introduction of a certification system based on their industrial engineering (IE) skill level.
In order to fulfill the role of planning and executing manufacturing strategies from a corporate perspective, it is essential to understand the Hitachi Group's businesses, so you will be assigned to a Hitachi Group business site for approximately two to three years after joining the company. After that, you will start working as a corporate employee and we will train you to become a Hitachi Group manufacturing leader through on-the-job training.
