The Corporate IT Digital Division provides IT solutions to more than 280,000 users worldwide to support the growth of the entire Hitachi Group. To realize social innovation on a global scale for the Hitachi Group, our mission is to (1) identify management, business, and operational issues and needs facing Hitachi and use technology and data to create solutions and value, and (2) promote the advancement of IT and DX and provide a common platform for overall optimization. To achieve this, we are working to promote the use of IT and digital technology while collaborating with each other, with one division focusing on account management to provide IT solutions while understanding each issue individually, and another division focusing on the development and operation of IT solutions and services.

    Organizational Structure of the Corporate IT Digital Division

    The Corporate IT Digital Division coordinates IT for the entire Hitachi Group while working in collaboration with the IT divisions of each business unit and Group company, and is developing common measures to contribute to business growth through IT digital technology, reduce IT costs, and respond to security risks.
    In addition, IT general managers have been appointed in Europe, the United States, China, India, and Singapore to promote the implementation of common global IT measures.

    By developing and providing common core systems and ERP for the Group, we promote the visualization of management information for the Hitachi Group and support management and business operations.

    We manage the Hitachi Group’s global IT infrastructure across the entire process―from strategy to deployment. We provide IT infrastructure that promotes global communication and supports diverse ways of working for employees, while ensuring both enhanced user value and robust security.

    Here, we propose and support the implementation of a wide range of solutions―driven by business contribution and a UX-first approach―tailored to the characteristics and challenges of each business unit and group company within Hitachi, Ltd. As the face of the Corporate IT Digital Division, we stand on the front line and work in the position closest to users, which is why we are called “Account SE.”

Distinctive Initiatives

By continuously monitoring and proactively leveraging the latest IT technologies, we enhance the agility, efficiency, and robustness of our IT infrastructure while contributing to corporate transformation and global business expansion. Under the management plan “Inspire 2027,” we have identified four priority initiatives and are driving efforts that support Hitachi Group businesses. We are also exploring ways to apply notable emerging IT technologies―such as generative AI―to business operations while carefully considering associated risks.

    By consolidating business data across the entire company and leveraging AI, we enable data-driven management that supports real-time decision-making. We provide performance forecasting solutions and dashboards that support management decision-making for BUs and group companies.

  • Lean IT / Smarter Operation

    We promote cloud migration, standardization, and rationalization of IT assets, and centralize operations to achieve carbon neutrality, an appropriate IT cost ratio, faster service delivery, and even greater robustness.

  • Employee Empowerment

    By fully leveraging the latest technologies, including generative AI, we maximize employee productivity and empowerment. By removing language barriers through technology, we drive the transformation of global ways of working.

  • Governance / Resources

    To enable faster decision-making and achieve advanced expertise and efficiency, we consolidate IT-related authority and resources―currently distributed across businesses and departments―under the CIO, and further strengthen collaboration and alignment across global IT functions.

Latest Information
  • Leveraging Generative AI
    Hitachi is promoting the use of generative AI, the latest IT technology, to improve the quality and productivity of its operations.

    While the use of generative AI has the potential to dramatically change business operations, it also carries the risk of information leakage and other security breaches. For this reason, Hitachi is working to ensure that everyone understands the specifications of generative AI and uses it only after going through the application and approval procedures under internal regulations. In addition, we will contribute to improving the quality and productivity of internal operations through the use of generative AI by participating in CoE activities that bring together generative AI experts and business divisions to promote the use of generative AI.
