ハーバード大学博士課程修了。大規模データベースとデータマイニングの研究に一貫して従事。HP LabsにおいてIntelligent Information Management分野のフェロー職を務めた後、2013年日立アメリカ社入社。日立アメリカ社研究開発部門では、Big Dataラボの長としてビッグデータ解析・AIに関する研究と顧客協創活動を立上げ、Silicon Valley Research Center GMに就任。2019年4月から社会イノベーション協創センタ統括本部長として、グローバルでの協創を通じた独創的デジタルソリューションを牽引。2020年4月より現職、循環型経済(サーキュラー・エコノミー)に向けたデジタル技術の研究プログラムを主導。
分散異種データベース領域のパイオニアとして、2010年ACM SIGMOD Edgar F. Codd Innovation Award受賞。ACM Fellow。
